Türkiye Says It Could Meet Saudi Military Needs Under Mecca Pact

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Türkiye could meet Saudi Arabia’s military requirements in certain technical areas under the Mecca Alliance with Pakistan. He said Saudi sovereignty, territorial integrity and infrastructure had faced serious attacks, and that the three members were assessing Saudi needs through consultations. Preparations for the alliance secretariat and military headquarters are nearly complete; personnel deployment and making the headquarters operational are next, he said. Fidan said the alliance is open to other regional countries and should not be viewed as a bloc against any particular state. He also said Saudi Arabia should remain outside the United States-Iran confrontation.
