Bessent Says Iran’s Trading Partners Get Cure Period Before Secondary Sanctions

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said trading partners linked to Iran will receive a brief cure period before Washington imposes secondary sanctions under Operation Economic Outcast. He said partners would be allowed to remedy their conduct, while warning that the process would move quickly and U.S. patience was not infinite. Treasury said every country now has a defined timeline to end identified Iran-related activity, and OFAC designated more than 60 entities, people and vessels. The new measures cover digital assets, technology, gold, aviation and shipping, expanding economic pressure on Tehran during the Israel-Iran war.
