Trump Posts Map Labeling the Strait of Hormuz a New U.S. Territory

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of the American president shown from the chest up at center, stern-faced with swept blond-white hair and wearing a dark suit, white shirt and pale blue tie with a small flag pin on the lapel, standing before a wide overhead satellite view of a narrow blue sea strait winding between arid tan desert coastlines with a thin red line traced along the near shore, drawn in warm ochre and slate-blue chalk and pastel strokes with cross-hatching on sepia newsprint.

U.S. President Donald Trump published an image on his Truth Social account labeling the Strait of Hormuz a new American territory. The post follows the pledge he made on August 14, when he said he would declare the strait American territory after Iran is defeated and that Washington already controls the waterway through its naval blockade of Iranian ports. He warned then that any Iranian attack would be answered with force a hundred times greater, and his administration said unprecedented new measures targeting Iranian revenue would be unveiled the following week. The post appeared amid Iran's new deadline and a further attack on a vessel transiting the strait.
