IDF Says Troops Fired at Rioters Near Ramallah After Teen Reported Killed

After Palestinian outlets reported that 15-year-old Amir Ahmad Jawad Jaber was killed by Israeli fire near Ramallah on Monday, the IDF said troops had opened fire during a military operation after a violent riot developed with stone throwing at forces. The army said soldiers returned fire at a suspect, identified a hit and opened a further investigation; a military source said the suspect was an Israeli citizen. Earlier reports, published before the IDF response, cited Palestinian medical officials saying the teen was shot in the head and chest in Al-Bireh. Israel's position is that riot violence in Judea and Samaria is a real security threat, while every fatal incident must be examined by the chain of command.
