President Trump told reporters Wednesday that U.S.-Iran diplomacy in Qatar was going well and that Iran's denuclearization was moving along, while Reuters-carried reports said technical talks in Doha were focused on Hormuz shipping and a durable ceasefire. Kushner and Witkoff met Qatar's prime minister to lay groundwork but, according to Reuters, were not attending the technical discussions themselves; RFE/RL and Qatar's ministry describe the channel as mediated and technical, not direct high-level talks. Israel should welcome any verifiable rollback of Iran's nuclear and missile threat while insisting that Tehran cannot use talks to rearm Hezbollah, Hamas or other proxies.
