High Court Voids Rabello Comptroller Vote
The High Court of Justice voided the Knesset election that chose attorney Michael Rabello as state comptroller and ordered lawmakers to hold a repeat vote. Ynet and Kikar published the ruling at 16:28 and 16:27 IDT, with Srugim following at 16:33; Israel National News also reported the decision at 16:27. The reports say the court found the Knesset vote was not a secret ballot, after MKs documented voting behind the curtain, so the June election must be canceled. The ruling protects the independence of a constitutional oversight office while leaving the Knesset to choose the comptroller again under a clean, secret process.
