Levin Presses Rabello to Take Comptroller Post Despite High Court
Justice Minister Yariv Levin increased pressure on attorney Michael Rabello to enter the State Comptroller's office after the High Court invalidated Rabello's Knesset election and ordered a repeat vote. The report says Levin argues Rabello should take the post despite the ruling, while Rabello told senior Likud figures he will not enter without new elections. It says Likud is delaying a final decision partly because of the party primary calendar, and that Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana and coalition whip Ofir Katz previously opposed rerunning the vote. The dispute extends the comptroller vacancy that began after Matanyahu Englman's term ended and keeps a core oversight institution inside the wider court-government confrontation.
