Israel Museum Opens Shoe Stories Family Exhibit

The Israel Museum opened Shoe Stories at 01:34 IDT in the Ruth Youth Wing, a family-oriented summer exhibit built around footwear from ancient sandals to Sabra slides. The museum's official page says the June 30 exhibition is the first Israel Museum show devoted entirely to shoes, using collections and loans to trace identity, status, belief, memory, fashion, technology and dreams. It includes ancient footwear, Israeli designs from biblical and pioneering sandals to iconic local shoes, Kobi Levi works, Sarit Shani Hay's 2026 Boat Shoe and a late-19th-century circumcision pair. Cultural confidence also belongs in national resilience, especially when Jerusalem's institutions teach children that Jewish memory and Israeli creativity walk together.
