NLI Marks America 250 With Jewish History Showcase
JNS reported July 3 that the National Library of Israel is marking America's 250th birthday with exhibits, concerts and panels on the shared U.S.-Israel and American Jewish story. Official NLI videos and a post show the Sounds of Freedom program, President Isaac Herzog's blessing and a Truman-recognition feature, while JNS says visitors can view the pen Truman used to sign recognition of Israel, with an authenticity document. The series includes Gershwin and Bernstein music and July 5-6 seminars on democracy and American Jewry. Jerusalem is stewarding Jewish memory while honoring an ally whose biblical and democratic commitments helped Israel enter the family of nations.
