COGAT Moves Gaza Return Screening to Kerem Shalom

COGAT said July 1 that Israel launched a pilot moving the Israeli security screening for Gazans returning from Egypt through Rafah from the Regavim facility to Kerem Shalom. The Defense Ministry's Land Crossings Authority and other security bodies now conduct the added screening and identification procedures at Kerem Shalom, while coordination with Egypt, WHO, prior Israeli security approval, EUBAM supervision and Rafah movement procedures remain unchanged. The prior Regavim checkpoint was in Rafah. Israel is keeping humanitarian return channels open while preserving the security screening needed to block Hamas exploitation of civilian movement.
