Extremist Haredi Protesters Damage Jerusalem Light-Rail Site

Police said on July 5 that extremist Haredi protesters entered the Jerusalem light-rail work compound on Bar-Ilan Street, damaged infrastructure, tried to block roads and disrupted public order. One suspect was arrested on suspicion of causing damage and participating in a disturbance. Video circulated of a protester lying on exposed pipes after breaching site fencing, and a separate video showed a physical altercation with construction workers. The protest is part of a longer fight over the Green Line; Israel should respect Torah communities and lawful protest while protecting workers, public order and infrastructure serving Jerusalem families.
