Police Disperse Bar Ilan Street Protest Against Jerusalem Light Rail Works

Israel Police and Border Police officers moved to restore order in the Bar Ilan area of Jerusalem on Monday night after dozens of haredi demonstrators protested against works on the city's light rail extension. An officer declared the gathering a public disturbance and ordered those present to clear the roadway. The police spokesperson's unit said protesters were intermittently blocking central traffic routes in the area and disrupting the daily life of residents. Damage was caused at the light rail works compound, and officers blocked demonstrators who tried to enter the construction site, with confrontations reported at the scene.
