Hamas Document Shows Delay Strategy on Gaza Disarmament
Kan published at 22:22 IDT July 4 that an internal Hamas document showed the terror group choosing a deliberate delay strategy on Gaza disarmament talks. The document, discussed by Hamas leaders in recent days, says the group believes Netanyahu views major Gaza concessions as political suicide during the election campaign, and therefore Hamas should stall until the end of 2026 to see who leads Israel. Kan said Qatar and Turkey urged Hamas to offer tactical flexibility, including on weapons, to embarrass Israel, but Hamas rejected the idea because even temporary concessions could become the next baseline. Israel should keep military pressure and diplomatic clarity aligned: reconstruction and withdrawals cannot reward a terrorist army waiting out Israeli democracy.
