Hamas Begins Gaza Power-Transfer Step to Technocrat Committee
Same-hour Israeli updates say Hamas has begun the handover step it had only signaled overnight, with the head of Gaza's Emergency Committee submitting his resignation and the terror organization saying administrative powers are to move to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, the technocrats committee led by Ali Shaath. Earlier reporting framed dissolution of the Government Activity Follow-up Committee as expected or under preparation, and later flashes said Hamas formally spoke of transferring its powers in the Strip. Cairo talks with Hamas, Palestinian factions and mediators are expected within about two days as phase-two ceasefire gaps and disarmament language remain unresolved. For Israel, this matters only if Hamas loses weapons, tax power and command authority, not merely a committee name.
