Hamas Said Set to Dissolve Gaza Governing Committee

Israel National News

Ynet published a 10:55 p.m. IDT alert, citing Asharq Al-Awsat, that Hamas sources say the terrorist organization's leadership is preparing to dissolve the Government Activity Follow-up Committee, its de facto Gaza government. The reported move is meant to clear a path for a Gaza Administration or technocrats committee, with Israel National News identifying Ali Shaath as its expected head. Ynet also reported expected Cairo talks with Hamas and mediators on phase-two gaps and disarmament language. For Israel, any administrative handover matters only if Hamas loses weapons, coercive power and command authority, not merely its official letterhead.
