Sa'ar Says Hamas Seeks Hezbollah Model in Gaza

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar warned that Hamas's offer to make room for a Gaza technocrat committee is a maneuver to avoid disarmament while preserving armed control. He said Hamas seeks a Hezbollah model in Gaza: a civilian committee handles municipal services while Hamas remains the dominant military force. Sa'ar said Israel insists on the Trump plan as written, centered on disarming Hamas and other terror groups and demilitarizing the Strip. The warning matters because any Gaza transition that leaves Hamas's weapons intact would endanger Israeli communities, undermine the postwar framework and betray the core lesson of October 7: civilian governance cannot coexist with a jihadist army.
