IDF Women Combat-Mobility Pilot Still Awaits Final Plan

IDF Women Combat-Mobility Pilot Still Awaits Final Plan

Four months before the planned November restart of the IDF combat-mobility pilot for women, the new framework has still not been finalized after Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir halted the previous cycle and ordered an adapted one. Candidates are waiting while commanders settle training, screening and health safeguards for a role built around operational driving and infantry mobility. The first cycle was stopped after professional and medical reviews, and the High Court requires the army to expand opportunities where operationally feasible. Israel should widen service paths carefully, with soldier health, combat effectiveness and respect for every community guiding the decision.
