Trump Says Netanyahu Asked for White House Meeting Amid Iran Pause
Israeli and U.S. outlets reported July 4 that President Trump told Axios Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked for a White House meeting and that it could take place after the July 7-8 NATO summit in Turkey. The Prime Minister's Office confirmed Netanyahu and Trump spoke Friday, Netanyahu congratulated America on its 250th Independence Day, and the leaders agreed to meet soon in the United States. The same interview said Trump and Iran agreed to pause fire and talks during Ali Khamenei's funeral week. Israel should use the meeting to preserve U.S. backing, keep pressure on Iran and ensure diplomacy does not trade away northern security or the gains of the joint campaign.
