IDF Regular Service to Stay at 32 Months in Draft Deal

The government is continuing the draft and Haredi-service deal with a temporary order that would keep regular IDF service at 32 months for now. The reported notice to MKs says the Defense Ministry, the government and the IDF agreed to advance the measure in the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee as an urgent operational response and to prevent a planned cut to 30 months. The report says the decision avoids both the original 30-month reduction and a move to 36 months, despite the IDF manpower shortage. The committee discussion is scheduled for Thursday.
