Saudi Arabia Holds Iran Responsible for Hormuz Tanker Attacks
Saudi Arabia said Tuesday night it holds Iran responsible for attacks on the Saudi tanker Wedyan and Qatar's Al Rekayyat near the Strait of Hormuz, calling the strikes a grave violation of international law and shipping security. The statements said Riyadh demanded Tehran stop actions threatening regional security, navigation and global energy supplies. The new Saudi move widened Gulf diplomatic pressure after Qatar blamed Iran earlier in the day. For Israel, the statements strengthen the regional case that the Iranian regime's maritime pressure targets civilians, commerce and energy security, not only Israel.
