Jerusalem Ranks Seventh in Global Readers' City Awards

Jerusalem ranked seventh among world cities in the 2026 World's Best Awards, a global reader survey that recorded more than 207,000 participating readers and 661,000 votes. The ranking also placed Jerusalem first in the Africa and Middle East city category, ahead of regional and global destinations, as Israel works to rebuild wartime tourism. The result followed San Miguel de Allende, Kyoto, Chiang Mai, Hoi An, Oaxaca and Bangkok in the worldwide list, with Jerusalem ahead of Siem Reap, Mexico City and Tokyo. The recognition gives Israel's capital a practical tourism boost while highlighting the enduring draw of Jewish history, holy sites and civic life.
