Herzog, Sohlberg, and Zini Vow to Block Foreign Sabotage of Israeli Election
President Isaac Herzog convened Central Elections Committee chairman Justice Noam Sohlberg and Shin Bet head David Zini at the President's Residence on Thursday morning, issuing a joint statement pledging to block foreign or domestic sabotage of the coming Knesset elections. Herzog said elections are not a civil war but a foundational democratic process, warning of many hostile foreign digital influences aimed at fracturing Israeli society. Sohlberg said the purity of the elections stands at the top of the committee's priorities and that election day should be a democratic celebration. Zini, who initiated the meeting, said the Shin Bet is directly subordinate to the elections chairman on all election matters, formalizing cooperation among the presidency, the elections authority and the security service.
