Shin Bet Chief to Brief Knesset on Foreign Election Interference

Shin Bet Director David Zini is scheduled to brief the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Subcommittee for Intelligence in a closed session Monday on attempts by hostile states to influence Israel’s October election. Supreme Court Justice Noam Sohlberg, who chairs the Central Elections Committee, is also expected to testify. Zini will present intelligence on suspected foreign meddling and the security establishment’s ability to track illicit funding intended to shape Israeli politics. Likud MK Amit Halevi said Iranian actors are trying to manipulate public opinion and oust the right-wing government, asserting that authorities have clear indications of the effort.
