Netanyahu Raises Erdogan Threats and Border Zones With Trump
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke Thursday night with President Donald Trump as Washington widened its Gulf moves against Iran and weighed Turkey-related defense questions. The official Prime Minister's Office account said Trump updated Netanyahu on American moves in the Gulf and that the leaders agreed to continue close coordination across fronts. Netanyahu raised the severity of statements by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his officials against the existence of the State of Israel, and he stressed Israel's need for security zones along its borders. Israeli reports also tied the call to concern over any U.S. F-35 sale to Ankara, with Netanyahu emphasizing that Israel must preserve air superiority.
