Officials See No Immediate Israeli Role in Renewed Iran Fighting
Israeli officials assessed Thursday evening that Israel is not expected to enter the renewed U.S.-Iran fighting for now, while the IDF remains ready if Iran expands the campaign or Washington requests Israeli help. Washington is leading the response after Iranian attacks around the Strait of Hormuz and on U.S. Gulf assets, and Israeli officials said Tehran also appears to be avoiding a direct Israeli front. Israel is coordinating with U.S. Central Command and preparing for scenarios in which Iran targets Israeli bases or strategic interests. The posture keeps Israel out of an unnecessary escalation while preserving freedom to strike if the Iranian threat turns toward Israel.
