Trump Says Iran Called Seeking Deal Aboard Air Force One After US Strikes
U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One en route to Washington from the NATO summit in Ankara that Iran had called a little while ago and wanted to make a deal so badly, adding that he did not know if they were worthy and did not know if they were going to honor the deal. Trump said Washington had just hit Iran very hard, described the retaliation ratio as twenty to one, and warned that every time Iran hits America the United States would hit back twenty times as hard. The remarks reversed the tone of his earlier Ankara press conference, where he had said trying to deal with the Islamic Republic was a waste of time and that he did not want to deal with them anymore. Trump also posted on Truth Social that the fresh strikes were in retribution for the recent Iranian bombing of ships in the Strait of Hormuz and warned if it happens again it will get much worse. A U.S. official confirmed the interim ceasefire with Iran had at least temporarily ceased, and Tehran had yet to confirm or deny any outreach to Washington.
