Qatari Delegation Visits Iran to Revive Gulf Mediation

Qatari negotiators visited Iran on Friday after a Gulf flare-up tied to an alleged Strait of Hormuz incident and subsequent U.S. strikes on Iranian targets. Reports said the mission was meant to strengthen Doha's mediator role, de-escalate tensions and create conditions for broader talks, with the effort coordinated with Washington. The development matters to Israel because the same escalation track centers on Iranian pressure in a strategic shipping lane. Washington said its recent strikes were aimed at keeping the Strait open after accusing Iranian forces of attacking three tankers.
