CENTCOM Says Third Iran Round Hit 140 Targets, Bringing Week Total Past 300

U.S. Central Command said its forces completed a third round of strikes on Iran overnight Saturday, hitting approximately 140 Iranian military targets and bringing the total across three rounds this week to more than 300. Precision munitions launched from land- and sea-based fighter aircraft, drones and naval vessels struck missile and drone sites, naval capabilities, ammunition storage facilities, communication networks and coastal surveillance positions, CENTCOM said. The command framed the operation as degrading Iran's ability to attack civilian mariners and commercial vessels freely transiting the Strait of Hormuz following the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attack on the Cyprus-flagged M/V GFS Galaxy. Iran's Revolutionary Guard responded overnight with ballistic-missile and drone salvos aimed at U.S. bases in Qatar, Bahrain and Jordan, while the IRGC navy said the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed until U.S. interference ends. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said on X that Iran had made a poor choice and would now pay.
