France Opens Terror Probe After Weapons Found Near Sarcelles Synagogue

France's National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor's Office opened an investigation Sunday after police found weapons and magazines in an unoccupied stolen car near a synagogue in Sarcelles, home to a large Jewish community. Authorities evacuated about 300 people from a cinema, shops and restaurants after the vehicle was flagged Saturday evening. Investigators found an assault rifle loaded with seven rounds and a handgun loaded with ten rounds; bomb-disposal officers found no explosives. The probe covers suspected terrorist conspiracy and category A and B weapons offenses, with the DGSI and anti-terror police assigned. No suspect or motive had been identified when the case was announced.
