French anti-terrorism prosecutors said six people are in custody and expected to face charges over a suspected plot targeting a synagogue in Sarcelles, north of Paris. The suspects, whose identities have not been disclosed, were arrested after authorities found a stolen vehicle containing a Kalashnikov-type rifle, a loaded Beretta pistol and magazines near the synagogue on July 11. Police evacuated about 300 people while security forces examined the vehicle. The prosecutor said the suspected plot was linked to Islamic extremism; the investigation covers terrorist criminal conspiracy and terrorism-linked weapons offenses.
