Trump Says U.S. Will Run Hormuz and Seek Payment

President Donald Trump said Monday the United States is taking control of the Strait of Hormuz and intends to manage and guard the strategic waterway for payment. He said Washington had protected the strait for 50 years without compensation and now planned to make money from that role. Trump said American and Iranian representatives had reached an agreement before Tehran reversed course, describing Iran as having violated the deal and received nothing from Washington. He also disclosed an 11-hour negotiating session and accused the Iranian delegation of seeking last-minute changes after the terms had been settled.
