U.S. Military Sets Tuesday Start for Renewed Maritime Blockade of Iran

The U.S. military will begin enforcing a renewed maritime blockade of Iran on Tuesday at 20:00 GMT, 23:00 in Israel, according to the U.S. Navy-led Joint Maritime Information Center. The measure applies to vessels of every flag entering or leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas, including oil terminals. Neutral ships may continue through the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian destinations, while humanitarian cargo will be permitted subject to inspection. The operational timetable follows President Donald Trump's announcement that Washington would restore the blockade as pressure on Tehran intensifies after renewed attacks on commercial shipping.
