IDF Names First Female Aircrew Brigadier General as Washington Air Attaché

Ovda Airbase Blue Flag Drill 2021

The IDF announced that Col. G., whose full identity remains classified, will be promoted to brigadier general and appointed air attaché in Washington. She will become the first female aircrew member, and pilot-course graduate, to reach that rank in the Israeli Air Force. G. has commanded Ovda Airbase since May 2024, after becoming the first woman to command an operational IAF squadron in 2019, leading the 122nd Nachshon intelligence-collection squadron. Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir selected the appointment in Monday's senior postings round, and Defense Minister Israel Katz approved the appointments Tuesday.
