Israeli Eye Mission Ends After 136 Successful Surgeries in Honduras

An Israeli ophthalmology mission completed its work in Honduras on Tuesday after treating 155 patients, including 136 who underwent successful eye surgery. The ten-day delegation brought specialists from Sheba Medical Center to San Felipe Hospital in Tegucigalpa, where they worked alongside Honduran teams on complex cases and professional training. The mission followed a direct request from President Nasry Asfura and was organized through Israel’s MASHAV aid agency, the Israeli Embassy, Sheba and the Joint Distribution Committee. Israel plans to send glaucoma equipment in August and a second medical delegation in November, alongside mass-casualty training for local emergency teams.
