Iran Releases American Citizen Detained Since 2024

President Donald Trump said Iran released an American woman who had been wrongfully detained since December 2024, adding that she was safely outside Iran and in good condition. Her lawyer identified her as an Iranian-American citizen who runs a nonprofit serving children in Iran. Iranian authorities had previously released her from prison but confiscated her passports, barred her from leaving and charged her with espionage. The lawyer said she had now left Iran for the United States and credited the Trump administration's efforts, while Trump described the release as a goodwill gesture by Tehran.
