Jerusalem Girl Suffers Second-Degree Burns After Squishy Toy Ruptures

A seven-year-old Jerusalem girl suffered first- and second-degree chemical burns after a gel-filled squishy toy distributed at her summer camp ruptured on her hands and leg. Her family sought care at Hadassah Ein Kerem after redness worsened over three days into large blisters. Doctors treated her under sedation, debrided and dressed the burns, and said the toy had not been heated in a microwave. Hadassah advised removing leaked material immediately, rinsing exposed skin under running water, and seeking emergency care for severe pain, blisters, a large affected area or eye exposure.
