IDF Says Gaza Interceptor Launch Followed False Identification

The IDF said Friday afternoon that an interceptor was launched at a false target in the southern Gaza Strip. The military said no public alerts were activated under Home Front Command policy and there was no security threat. Reports said the launch followed a mistaken identification and that no projectile had been fired from Gaza. The clarification followed an Iron Dome launch observed minutes earlier near the Gaza border. The IDF said the incident is under review as it examines what produced the false identification.
