Iran ports authority says US projectile hit Chabahar maritime traffic center

A U.S. strike caused the already-damaged maritime traffic-control tower at Iran's Chabahar port to collapse early Friday after the facility was hit for a third time in a week. The Gulf of Oman port is a key trade route for landlocked Afghanistan and has operated with Indian support. Iranian authorities describe the tower as overseeing commercial traffic and search-and-rescue work, while the Revolutionary Guard also operates at Iranian ports. The strike formed part of the sixth consecutive night of American attacks intended to pressure Tehran over its restrictions on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
