Initial IDF Probe Finds Reserve Officer Wounded by Friendly Fire Near Bint Jbeil

An initial IDF investigation found that a reserve officer from the 679th Yiftah Brigade was wounded by Israeli fire near Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon on Friday evening. The initial account said an IDF force fired small arms and that a fragment from one of the munitions struck the officer, who was moderately wounded. He received treatment at the scene and was evacuated by an Israeli Air Force helicopter to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa. The 91st Division opened an investigation; the report did not identify the firing unit or explain why the fire was directed toward the officer.
