Bitan Accuses Haim Katz of Undermining Likud's Internal Democracy

Likud MK David Bitan accused party Constitution Committee chair Haim Katz of trying to change the rules mid-process and turn Likud into a less democratic party that blocks members from being elected. Bitan said the party court prevented Katz from advancing a different rules proposal and argued the plans were Katz's, not Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's. He criticized permanently expanding the party leader's reserved Knesset-list slots, while saying he supports some reserved places depending on their number and position. The party court ordered convention voting to resume by noon Tuesday, July 21, first on the Netanyahu-backed rules, and barred the committee from voting on a different plan beforehand.
