Likud Cancels Central Committee Vote on Netanyahu Slate Picks and Rules

Likud canceled a renewed Central Committee vote on its primary regulations and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's reserved Knesset-list places after court petitions continued to block the process. The ballot concerned rules for the party's August 4 primary and a plan granting Netanyahu eight reserved places, including three within the top 10 and six within the top 20. A Lod District Court injunction had previously halted the vote after challengers said an alternative proposal was omitted. Likud officials said the repeated delays and cancellations could move the party toward canceling the primaries and selecting its slate through an appointed committee.
