Explosive Drone Intercepted West of Erbil Near U.S. Consulate

Iraqi security officials said an explosive-laden drone was intercepted west of Erbil, near the United States consulate in the capital of Iraq's Kurdistan Region. The initial report identified the aircraft as a one-way explosive drone and placed the interception in the western part of the city, close to the American diplomatic compound. It did not identify the attacker, the intended target or the air-defense system used. The report also did not provide an immediate casualty or damage assessment, and no first-party statement was available when the item was published.
