U.S. Soldier Killed in Iraq During Detonation of Iranian Drone Wreckage

U.S. Central Command said a U.S. service member was killed in action in northern Iraq on July 18 during the controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone. A second service member suffered a minor wound and remained under medical care. CENTCOM withheld the fallen soldier's identity while notifying the family. The same update said U.S. forces found unidentified remains at the site of Iran's July 17 attack in Jordan, where two American troops were killed and one was listed as missing; an examination to identify the remains is continuing.
