Trump Links Jordan Troop Deaths to Blocking an Iranian Nuclear Weapon

President Donald Trump called the deaths of two U.S. service members in an Iranian attack on Jordan “a very sad thing” and said they died “in service of our country.” He linked their mission to preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. U.S. Central Command said a third service member remains missing, while four wounded personnel were treated and released from hospitals in Jordan. Trump also said he “couldn’t care less” about Tehran’s announcement that it would no longer follow the June memorandum of understanding.
