Andy Burnham Becomes UK Prime Minister After Starmer Resigns

King Charles III appointed Andy Burnham as the United Kingdom's prime minister at Buckingham Palace after accepting Keir Starmer's resignation. Burnham, the former Greater Manchester mayor, had become Labour leader on Friday after receiving nominations from 379 of the party's 403 lawmakers. In his first Downing Street speech, he promised a 10-year plan to restore political stability, improve living standards and end rough sleeping. He said politicians needed to improve and described his arrival as a circuit-breaker after years of leadership turnover.
