Lapid Meets Democratic Senators Who Backed Limits on Israel Arms Sales

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of Yair Lapid shaking hands with a Democratic senator in a Washington group portrait

Opposition leader Yair Lapid met in Washington with Democratic senators who had voted to restrict arms sales to Israel. Lapid said his goal was to convince them they were wrong and present the facts on the ground. His office said he urged the senators not to give up on Israel and stressed continued cooperation between Israel and the Democratic Party. Lapid said boycotting critics was not effective and called for detailed work to repair ties with both parties. The meetings came during his Washington visit ahead of Israel's election.
