Van Hollen-Led Group Plans Senate Resolution on West Bank Violence

Eleven senators led by Chris Van Hollen announced plans to introduce a privileged resolution seeking a State Department report on West Bank violence, killings of Americans and Israel's detention and treatment of Palestinian children. Under Section 502B(c), the Foreign Relations Committee would have 10 days to act before the measure could reach the floor. If adopted, the administration would have 30 days to provide an unclassified report. The draft says covered security assistance would be prohibited if the report were not delivered, while its allegations about accountability and detention remain the senators' characterization.
