Nauru Approves Opening Embassy in Jerusalem
Nauru's cabinet approved opening an embassy in Jerusalem, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar announced Wednesday. Sa'ar thanked President David Adeang and Vice President and Foreign Minister Lionel Aingimea for the decision, which follows his meeting with Aingimea in Fiji last month. The mission is expected to open in the coming months, becoming the tenth embassy in Israel's capital and the fifth opened there during Sa'ar's tenure. Nauru recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital in 2019 and has consistently supported Israel in international forums.
