Pro-Israel Rep. Greg Stanton Defeats Kai Newkirk in Arizona Primary

Rep. Greg Stanton defeated progressive challenger Kai Newkirk in Arizona's Fourth Congressional District Democratic primary. Newkirk had criticized Stanton's pro-Israel record and support from AIPAC, and said he would have backed an amendment to cut U.S. military aid to Israel. Stanton voted against that amendment, while Newkirk's platform called for ending military aid and imposing an arms embargo. Stanton is set to face Republican Zuhdi Jasser in the November general election.
