Britain Says Forces Ready After Iran Threatens U.S.-Used Bases

Britain said its armed forces are ready to defend the country after Iran's Revolutionary Guards warned that British bases used by U.S. bombers would be legitimate targets. A government spokesperson said the United Kingdom stands ready around the clock and described layered air and missile defenses operated by the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force with NATO allies. London said its position remains unchanged: it will defend its people, interests and allies under international law while seeking to avoid a wider conflict. The warning followed U.S. defensive strikes on Iranian missile capabilities linked to attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
